SABA-DC Virtual Book Club: Members Only by Sameer Pandya

SABA-DC's September Book Club will discuss Members Only by Sameer Pandya. The main character of Pandya’s new novel is an Indian American university professor in anthropology who is thinking about his identity in what the author refers to as the “brown space between Black and white.”

First the white members of Raj Bhatt’s posh tennis club call him racist. Then his life falls apart. Along the way, he wonders: where does he, a brown man, belong in America?

Pandya is the author of the story collection The Blind Writer, which was long listed for the PEN/Open Book Award. His fiction, commentary, and cultural criticism has appeared in a range of publications, including the AtlanticSalonSports IllustratedESPN, and Narrative Magazine. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Asian American Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

When: Sunday, September 27, 3-4:30pm

Where: Zoom link to be emailed to registrants by 12pm on 9/27
